The Child Australia Resource Centre has over 20,000 items to support early childhood educators in meeting their programming and professional needs. Resources include information on child development, special needs and disability, diversity and inclusion, child protection, quality practice in early childhood education, and topics as diverse as toileting, grief and emotional development. We have a wide range of multicultural items, including costumes, artefacts, children’s books, music, games, and posters. These can be borrowed in kit form or individually, to enhance the diversity and inclusivity of a child care service’s program. There are also toys, games, photo sets, cause and effect toys and children’s books.

A variety of kits are available to support language and social skills.
Story Boxes and Chatter Boxes contain children’s books, with additional information and ideas on language development and stimulating use of resources.

Show Me, Tell Me Kits have resources and information on using augmentative communication for children with significant language disorders. They include a DVD, children’s books and the basics for introducing Makaton signing and/or picture symbols into your program.

E-Boxes have a theme of “Exploring Emotions and Empathy” and contain information for early childhood educators and books for children to support the development of emotional literacy.

Music Kits contain multicultural musical instruments and music and a collection of simple ideas and activities to enhance the music component of a service’s program.

Specialist Equipment
The Resource Centre coordinates Specialist Equipment to support the inclusion of children with a disability and high ongoing support needs in Western Australia.
To access this equipment from Child Australia’s Resource Centre a child must be attending Australian Government Approved Child Care Services (AGACCS) and the equipment needs should be identified by the early childhood educator and Inclusion Support Facilitator (from a regionally based Inclusion Support Agency) in the Service Support Plan. Details of the equipment requested are included in an Inclusion Support Subsidy application. This information is then forwarded to our Specialist Equipment Team who provide the equipment following consultation with the child’s therapists and the child care program coordinator.
