Attachment Theory: Supporting Children Aged 0-3 Develop Secure Relationships
The Early Years Learning Framework reminds us that relationships are central to supporting children’s learning. When children have secure relationships with educators, they will be more likely to explore, play and learn.
This workshop will provide an introduction of attachment theory and why it is important when working with children under three years of age in Education and Care settings. The stages of attachment development will be discussed and how attachment theory is supported by the latest research on brain development. Participants will leave with a greater understanding of attachment theory, armed with practical strategies to support children to develop secure attachment bonds with educators.
Learning Outcomes:
- What attachment theory is and why it is important
- What neuroscience has to say about the importance of secure relationships
- The four stages of attachment development in children under three years of age
- Practical ways to incorporate attachment theory into curriculum planning
