This is an interactive workshop that explores the concept of ‘culture’ from a broader perspective, allowing the learner to reflect on their own interpretation of culture and its meaning to them.
There will be opportunity to explore the impact culture has on us all and how having a deeper awareness can support curriculum planning and greater inclusive practice in the education and care settings we work within.
The session will include topics such as educators as role models, working towards cultural competency, biases and prejudices, creating inclusive environments and collaborating with children, family and community. This will be achieved through reflective practice, group discussion and group activities.
Learning Outcomes:
- How to work towards cultural competency.
- Biases and prejudices and the effects on our practices.
- how to start creating welcoming and inclusive environments.
