Let’s Count – Session 2
The Let’s Count program is an evidence based , fully evaluated early mathematics program for children aged three to five, developed by The Smith Family and Professor Bob Perry and Associate Professor Ann Gervasoni. The program supports parents and early years’ educators to develop the maths skills of the children in their care by noticing, exploring, and talking about numbers, counting, measurement and patterns in their daily lives.
These two 6 hour workshops will help to increase early childhood educators’ knowledge, skills and confidence in working with and supporting parents and carers, to engage their children in learning mathematics and numeracy skills.
Session 2 is a peer reflective practice day that builds on educators’ skills in engaging children and parents in mathematical learning.
Free Resources provided, these resources include ideas, tip sheets, games and books, to help engage their children in mathematics activities. The resources, coupled with the advice provided by educators, help parents to guide and support their children’s mathematical development.
Let’s Count aligns with the Early Years Framework as it provides early childhood educators with the skills and resources to facilitate children’s learning. Educators can then actively promote these skills to parents and children in their early childhood setting in collaboration with children, parents and families.
