Recent updates have been made to the nationally endorsed learning frameworks. The latest iteration of ‘Belonging, Being and Becoming: The Early Years Learning Framework’ (EYLF) necessitates that approved providers, services, and educators acquaint themselves with this revised version. Although the original edition remains valid throughout 2023, it will be rendered obsolete starting from February 1, 2024 (as stated in the Guide to the National Quality Framework, July 2023, page 104).
Numerous alterations have been introduced to the EYLF, primarily impacting its guiding principles and practices. This new version incorporates additional components into its outcomes section. Version 2 also contains many elaborations and extra explanations of the terminology used in the original version, thereby clarifying assumptions previously around the implementation of the framework. It is vital to understand these changes practically as well as theoretically to be able to implement them authentically and meaningfully.
During this full day forum, we will work together to study the principles, practices, and outcomes of the EYLF, we will explore and unpack new terminology as we walk through the entire document while referring to some of the research that influenced the changes. We’ll also learn about teaching methods and go over the new details added about planning. We’ll share real examples of how the framework is used, so you can understand it better and use it effectively in the future.
