This course introduces different theoretical perspectives that may influence curriculum design. 

The emphasis of the course is to assist participants to reflect on the creation of their curriculum by considering each section of the early years planning cycle. The curriculum planning process attempts to follow a circular progression which may be modified due to the emerging needs of children and families.  Every aspect of curriculum planning is fluid due to the fact that teachers and educators need to be constantly engaging in critical reflection on children’s learning and development.

Learning Outcomes:

  • Reflective practice will be addressed with opportunities to explore how pedagogical documentation informs decision making.
  • Understand the programming and planning cycle from an emerging early years and middle childhood approach.
  • De-constructing the Early Years Framework, National Quality Framework, Kinder Curricula and Australian Professional Teaching Standards.
  • Share best practice strategies whilst making learning visible with inclusive practice for educators, families and children.
